Meta Platforms on Sunday announced a subscription service for Instagram and Facebook users, called Meta Blue Verification Badge.
This service will cost $11.99 per month and will first be available in Australia and New Zealand.
Mark Zuckerberg says the move will improve the security and authenticity of their social media applications.
Meta has said in order for a user to be eligible their username and account name will need to match their government-issued ID.
Businesses and Creators can get their Meta Verified Badge to gain exclusive access to customer service, enhanced visibility, and broader reach on the platform, as well as access to other exclusive features.
It is important to note that there will be no limitations on ads in any case.
